Graham Beck Coffeestone Cabernet 2012
The origin of this wine’s curious name is a reference to the Coffeestone Vineyard in Firgrove, Stellenbosch where the fruit for this classy Cab was sourced. The soil where these old low yielding bush vines are planted is composed of deep granite gravel on laterite (coffeestone) and weathering clay (saprolite). The grapes were hand harvested at optimum ripeness, then fermented in open stainless steel tanks with regular punch downs to ensure optimum extraction and purity of fruit. The wine was matured for 18 months in new fill French Oak barrels. On the nose you’ll be greeted by whiffs of cederwood and cigarbox combined with rich dark berry fruit. While on the palate you’ll be treated to cassis, mulberry, spices and rich chocolate flavours. A full bodied, firmly structured wine with concentrated fruit, a balanced mouthfeel and long finish.

This wine will develop in complexity for a further 5 – 10 years with careful cellaring.
